As Cambodia’s tourism sector sees a resurgence, Cathay United Bank Cambodia (CUBC) has launched the "CUBC Payment Link Portal" (CPL) to meet the growing demand for seamless digital payments. Developed in partnership with Mastercard, the CPL enables hotels, guesthouses, and local tour providers to accept online payments via Mastercard and Visa—without needing their own website or app. Businesses simply generate a secure link through the portal and share it with customers.

Financial Innovation Spotlight – March 2025 edition

The launch aligns with a tourism boom that saw Cambodia welcome 6.7 million international visitors in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic numbers. With destinations like Siem Reap and Phnom Penh ranking among Asia’s top travel hotspots, the need for efficient and secure digital transactions is more pressing than ever.

Supporting custom travel experiences

Kevin Yeh, President of CUBC, highlights a growing trend: travelers are booking customized experiences, such as cooking classes or eco-tours, ahead of their arrival. At the same time, hospitality providers prefer advance payments to confirm reservations—something not always supported by major booking platforms.

CPL bridges this gap by allowing businesses to offer tailor-made travel packages while collecting secure payments directly. The platform also lets providers add perks for direct bookings, such as complimentary spa services or room upgrades, giving them a competitive edge.

Smart features for modern hospitality

More than just a payment tool, CPL includes features that streamline operations. Businesses can build service catalogs, automate notifications, and track payments in real time across devices. With EMV 3DS 2.0 security and no setup required, the platform is a leap forward in digital finance—underscoring CUBC’s commitment to supporting Cambodia’s tourism economy through innovation.
