HolaBank expands in northern Spain amid growing international demand

10/03/2025News

HolaBank, CaixaBank's specialized program for international clients, has expanded its presence in northern Spain with ten new branches. This move follows increasing demand from international buyers interested in settling in the region. The new locations include San Sebastián, Hondarribia, Irún, Santander, Gijón, Vigo, and Girona.

Rising foreign interest in Spanish real estate

Foreign investment in Spanish real estate has surged, accounting for 14.6% of total property purchases in 2024, according to CaixaBank Research. While coastal areas remain popular, northern Spain is emerging as an attractive alternative due to climate trends and evolving tourism patterns. In December 2020, foreign buyers accounted for only 1.8% of home sales in Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, and the Basque Country, but by late 2024, this figure had more than doubled to 3.9%.

Tailored banking services for international clients

Designed for expatriates, digital nomads, retirees, and investors, HolaBank offers customized financial services, including multilingual support and mortgage options in 19 currencies. Its collaboration with mortgage brokers allows international clients to secure financing regardless of their income currency.

Seamless digital banking and mortgage solutions

HolaBank’s expansion aligns with CaixaBank’s broader strategy to support international clients. The program operates 350 branches across Spain, staffed by over 500 specialized managers and supported by the multilingual CaixaBankNow app. Additional services, such as digital onboarding, remote mortgage applications, and lifestyle assistance through the HolaBank Club, enhance the customer experience.

At the end of 2024, HolaBank’s mortgage portfolio reached €5.004 billion, reflecting an 11.6% increase from the previous year. With international interest continuing to rise, the program is well-positioned to support Spain’s growing community of foreign homeowners.
