Revolut, the global financial super app serving over 50 million customers worldwide, has launched an innovative in-app phone support feature to enhance security and protect customers from identity theft scams. This new functionality aims to provide a secure communication channel between customers and Revolut’s support team.

How Revolut fights identity theft scams

Identity theft scams occur when fraudsters impersonate banks, authorities, or trusted individuals to trick victims into sharing sensitive information or transferring funds. Despite Revolut’s growing user base, the number of reported identity theft scams affecting its customers has reached its lowest level in nearly two years. However, the emotional and financial impact on those affected remains significant.

To address this issue, Revolut has been testing and refining its in-app phone support for several months. This built-in feature ensures that calls with Revolut’s support team are secure and authentic, as they originate directly from the app, making it impossible for scammers to replicate. Revolut emphasizes that most customer service calls will now take place within the app, providing peace of mind to users concerned about potential scams.

Secure banking with Revolut’s in-app calls

Woody Malouf, Head of Financial Crime Prevention at Revolut, stated, “Identity theft scams pose a serious risk to our customers. The best way to stop a scam is to break the fraudster’s illusion quickly, before any money is transferred. By offering secure in-app calls, we empower customers to verify who they’re speaking with and avoid falling victim to fraud.”

Future updates for business users

Revolut plans to roll out this feature to its Revolut Business customers soon. In the meantime, the company continues to recommend its chat feature as the fastest and safest way to seek assistance. Customers are advised to hang up on suspicious calls and verify the caller’s identity directly through the app.
