Nationwide has announced the expansion of its innovative Ting fire prevention program, offering advanced protection to even more policyholders. The program provides eligible new and existing members with a free Ting sensor and five years of complimentary fire prevention service, reinforcing Nationwide’s commitment to safeguarding families and homes.

How Ting protects homes

Ting, developed by Whisker Labs, uses cutting-edge technology to monitor a home’s electrical system, detecting potential fire hazards before they escalate. This proactive approach offers homeowners peace of mind, addressing issues early to prevent devastating electrical fires. To date, Ting has protected over 50,000 families, preventing nearly 800 potential fires across the U.S.

One Nationwide member from Martinez, CA, shared their experience: “Ting alerted me to a problem in my house. I received a call from the Fire Safety Team and app alerts. When I checked my subpanel, one of the wires was melting! Thanks to Ting, I got it fixed and even received $1,000 towards the repair. This program is a lifesaver.”

Expanding safety through innovation

Nationwide’s Ting program aligns with the growing adoption of smart home technology, addressing the safety priorities of modern homeowners. A recent survey revealed that 61% of homeowners with smart devices value safety as a primary benefit, underscoring the importance of proactive solutions like Ting.

“Since launching Ting, we’ve seen how much members appreciate the added safety,” said Sarah Jacobs, SVP of Personal Lines Product and Underwriting at Nationwide. “This expansion is another step in our commitment to reducing fire risks and protecting our members.”

Currently available in 44 states, Nationwide’s Ting program offers eligible policyholders a free sensor, the Ting app, and $1,000 towards hazard repairs. Interested members can check eligibility and enroll online.
