MCB unveils Juice Tap: A new era in digital payments

07/12/2024News

MCB has introduced Juice Tap, a groundbreaking payment service powered by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, in partnership with VISA. This innovative feature, accessible through the MCB Juice app, allows customers to complete transactions by simply bringing their NFC-enabled smartphone close to a payment terminal. Initially available for VISA cardholders on Android, the service will soon expand to Mastercard users, with iPhone compatibility currently under discussion with Apple.

Effortless and convenient payments

Juice Tap offers a seamless and efficient payment experience, eliminating the need for cash or physical cards. Customers can make purchases in Mauritius and abroad using just their smartphone. With all payment options consolidated in a digital wallet within the MCB Juice app, this service simplifies daily transactions for modern, tech-savvy users.

Prioritizing security and sustainability

Security remains a top priority for MCB. Juice Tap encrypts all transactions, minimizing fraud risks and ensuring user confidence. Additionally, this digital solution promotes sustainability by reducing reliance on plastic cards and paper receipts. Merchants with contactless payment terminals are already equipped to accept Juice Tap payments.

Driving innovation in a cashlite economy

The launch of Juice Tap underscores MCB's commitment to innovation and its role in advancing a cashlite economy. By integrating this service into its extensive digital ecosystem—which includes MCB Juice, MCB JuicePro, QR MAUCAS, and Internet Banking platforms—the bank empowers users with diverse and secure payment options.

A growing demand for digital solutions

The demand for digital payment methods has surged post-pandemic, with contactless transactions doubling in the past three years. MCB Juice now serves over 600,000 users, reflecting the growing preference for convenience and security in daily financial activities.

This partnership between MCB and VISA exemplifies a shared vision to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance the customer experience, setting new standards for digital payments in Mauritius.
