CaixaBank has significantly expanded its mobile office services in 2024, reaching 804 towns across Spain, a 27% increase from the previous year. This expansion is part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to ensuring financial inclusion in rural areas where access to banking services is limited.

The mobile offices, which serve approximately 340,000 residents, offer essential banking services such as cash withdrawals, deposits, and bill payments. These services are crucial for towns without local branches, allowing residents to manage their finances without having to travel long distances.

In the first half of 2024, CaixaBank extended its reach to new areas, including the provinces of León, Palencia, and Guadalajara. Currently, 24 mobile offices cover 13 provinces across six regions, including Castile-León, Castile-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, Andalusia, Madrid, and La Rioja. These offices travel an average of 32,900 miles each month, providing consistent and reliable service to the communities they visit.

To further enhance its services, CaixaBank has announced a new agreement with the Generalitat de Catalonia, adding 105 towns in Girona to its mobile office network by mid-September. This expansion will bring the total number of towns served in Catalonia to 503 by the end of 2024, with 33 mobile offices covering 1,300 towns across Spain.

CaixaBank CEO Gonzalo Gortázar emphasized the importance of these services in rural areas, particularly for the elderly, who make up 70% of the mobile office users. He highlighted the bank's commitment to being close to its customers, especially in regions where it is the only banking service provider.

This initiative is a key component of CaixaBank's strategy to prevent financial exclusion in rural areas, support local economies, and maintain a strong, personal connection with its customers. The bank's efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in reducing inequalities and promoting financial inclusion.
