Anna Kuzmina, deputy chief commercial officer at Yandex.Money, told Efma’s Boris Plantier how she got where she is today, and why it’s such a great place to be.
Please tell us a little bit about your background.
I have quite a diverse background. I started as a trainee in an import-export company in Shanghai, China and moved to a famed web design studio in Russia, then to social, mobile and online games industries, before landing in the fintech industry where I am now with Yandex.Money. Most of the companies I’ve worked for were so non-standard and unconventional that it was never possible to prepare yourself based on prior experience only – it was always a case of learning while getting to work. For instance, no one would give you instructions how to localize a Polish game for the Russian market, or how to find and connect online payment systems in Taiwan or Chile. So I can say that so far it has been an exciting journey of self-education in various industries, all connected by the nature of my job – business development.
