Generali, together with a coalition of top-tier private, public, and academic institutions, has launched the Agorai Innovation Hub, a pioneering research ecosystem dedicated to advancing Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the benefit of humanity. Based in Trieste—a city known for its cultural exchange and scientific heritage—the Hub aims to become a leading European center for AI research, training, and innovation.

A collaborative platform for Innovation

The Hub brings together influential partners such as Fincantieri, illycaffè, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, and Google Cloud, alongside academic powerhouses including the Universities of Trieste and Udine, SISSA, the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP). Structured as both a Foundation for basic research and a joint-stock company for applied innovation, the Hub will also support startup creation, talent development, and cross-sector collaboration.

An Open Academy will play a central role in training the next generation of innovators, offering programs based on the expertise of participating universities and corporate academies like Generali’s own.

Advanced tech, historic location

Google Cloud joins as a strategic partner, providing AI infrastructure and access to tools like Gemini and AlphaFold. Deloitte will support commercialization strategies, while Goldman Sachs will guide research on financial markets and sustainable finance.

The Hub’s home will be Palazzo Carciotti, a historic landmark and Generali’s original headquarters. The building will be renovated under the direction of renowned architect Carlo Ratti, transforming it into a modern space for research, collaboration, and education. In the meantime, operations will begin at the nearby Palazzo Berlam, already home to the Generali Academy.

"Humanaize the future"

The mission of the Agorai Innovation Hub—summarized in the phrase "Humanaize the Future"—is to ensure that technological progress is aligned with societal well-being. Rather than treating AI as an end in itself, the Hub will focus on human-centered applications across key areas including healthcare and longevity, regenerative agriculture, sustainable mobility, and finance.

By anchoring its vision in ethical principles and measurable impact, the Hub sets out to be more than just a research center—it aims to become a global model for how innovation can serve people, communities, and the planet. From Trieste, the future of responsible AI begins.
