Bankinter has officially signed the merger of its digital banking subsidiary, EVO Banco, and its Irish division, Avant Money, into a unified brand. This strategic move aims to streamline operations and create a consistent identity across all markets where the bank operates.
EVO Banco integration underway
The legal merger of EVO Banco S.A.U. into Bankinter S.A. has been registered with the Madrid Companies Registry. While EVO Banco will cease to exist as a standalone credit institution, it will continue to function as a trade name within Bankinter until the technological integration is completed in July. EVO’s customers will maintain access to the same products and services throughout this transition.
Bankinter has assumed all contracts and obligations from EVO, ensuring a seamless experience for customers. EVO Banco employees have also been integrated into Bankinter S.A., with roles remaining unchanged during the transition. The full technological integration will enable Bankinter to further enhance its digital offerings through the Digital Organisation, which will now oversee over 430,000 active digital customers.
Avant Money becomes Bankinter Ireland
As part of its consolidation efforts, Bankinter has also merged Avant Money into its operations, transforming the Irish subsidiary into a Bankinter branch. Avant Money, acquired alongside EVO Banco in 2019, has been a significant player in the Irish mortgage and consumer loan market, with a mortgage portfolio valued at €2.9 billion and consumer loans totaling €1 billion as of 2024.
This transition marks Bankinter’s entry into the Irish deposit market, with plans to introduce current accounts and other banking services in the latter half of 2025.
Strategic growth and digital expansion
Bankinter CEO Gloria Ortiz emphasized that these mergers reflect the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence in key markets while maintaining its position as an independent leader in Spain’s banking sector. With enhanced digital capabilities and a growing international footprint, Bankinter is set to offer a more comprehensive and efficient banking experience for customers across Europe.
