CaixaBank is set to complete the rollout of its sign language video interpretation service, SVisual, across its entire branch network by March. This initiative aims to improve accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments, allowing them to receive financial information through a real-time video interpretation system with a specialized interpreter.

Enhancing accessibility in financial services

SVisual ensures that banking appointments for individuals with hearing impairments are conducted smoothly, reducing miscommunication and promoting financial autonomy. The service, which is free of charge, enables customers to request appointments via email or the CaixaBankNow app. It also allows clients to discuss complex financial matters, such as investment and financing options, with greater clarity.

The service was initially introduced in December as a pilot program in 120 branches across Spain. By March, it will be fully operational nationwide, reinforcing CaixaBank’s commitment to financial inclusion. SVisual was developed by the CNSE Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving accessibility for the Deaf community, with the support of the Spanish State Confederation of Deaf People (CNSE).

A broader commitment to financial inclusion

SVisual is part of CaixaBank’s wider efforts to make financial services more accessible. The bank has implemented features such as high-contrast ATM screens, voice-guided navigation, and easy-to-use menus. In 2022, CaixaBank introduced Spain’s first Braille-coded payment card, ensuring a more inclusive banking experience for visually impaired customers.

Beyond physical accessibility, CaixaBank has optimized its digital channels, offering the CaixaBankNow mobile app with customizable font sizes and voice navigation. Additionally, its commercial website is the only one in Spain accredited with AA-level accessibility under W3C-WAI web standards.

By continuously improving accessibility, CaixaBank reaffirms its mission to provide equal financial opportunities for all customers, regardless of their physical abilities.
