MassMutual has become the first U.S. insurer to offer its policyowners free access to AI-guided mental health support through Wysa Assure, an innovative app developed by Wysa in partnership with Swiss Re. This offering is a significant addition to MassMutual’s Health and Wellness Program, designed to empower policyowners to take charge of their health and well-being.

Wysa Assure provides 24/7 AI-powered chat support, offering policyholders access to over 150 evidence-based tools that address common mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, sleep, and productivity. The app also features a well-being score to help users track their emotional and mental health. Given that more than 20% of U.S. adults live with a mental illness, this tool aims to make mental health support more accessible.

“At MassMutual, we recognize the link between mental and physical health and its impact on longevity,” said Sears Merritt, head of Enterprise Technology and Experience at MassMutual. “Our expansion into mental health support is part of our commitment to policyowners’ overall well-being.”

MassMutual’s Health and Wellness Program has grown rapidly. The insurer recently expanded its partnership with GRAIL, offering policyholders access to GRAIL’s Galleri® multi-cancer early detection test, as well as with Genomics plc, further enhancing the scope of available wellness initiatives. Importantly, participation in these programs is voluntary and does not affect policy premiums.

By combining AI-driven mental health support with its broader health initiatives, MassMutual is at the forefront of innovation, promoting a holistic approach to health for its policyowners. This commitment aims to foster healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives.
