Since its launch in May 2023, Cuenta Nu has quickly emerged as a leader in Mexico's digital finance sector, offering innovative solutions that prioritize customer engagement and financial well-being. The platform has redefined how users manage their finances by introducing features that simplify saving, transactions, and financial planning.

A key initiative of Cuenta Nu is the “Cajitas Nu” (Money Boxes), which allows users to organize their savings into specific goals. This tool fosters long-term saving habits by offering competitive interest rates. As of August 22, 2024, Cuenta Nu provides a rate of 13.50% for savings with 24/7 liquidity, with higher rates for “Ahorros Congelados” (Frozen Savings) at 7, 28, and 90 days—13.60%, 13.90%, and 14.75%, respectively.

Cuenta Nu also facilitates seamless and affordable money transfers from the United States, breaking down traditional barriers associated with international transactions. Partnering with Banxico’s Dimo system, the platform enhances the speed and security of these operations.

In addition, Cuenta Nu has expanded its reach to over 4,400 establishments across Mexico, enabling customers to easily deposit and withdraw cash, thus maintaining complete control over their accounts. This expansion supports Nu’s broader mission to close financial gaps and provide a comprehensive service to all Mexicans.

In just one year, Cuenta Nu has attracted over 3 million users and now holds 47% of the sector’s deposits and serves 43% of its customers, according to March 2024 data from the CNBV’s Sofipos sector report. User feedback highlights the platform's success in reducing financial stress, with 76% of users appreciating instant notifications of account activity and 66% finding that the platform's simplicity has significantly lowered their financial stress.

Cuenta Nu aims to be the primary financial account for Mexicans, offering a blend of simplicity, security, and transparency that makes it a top choice for managing finances in Mexico.
