BBVA is taking a major step in its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy by expanding its AI Factory to Mexico and Turkey. This expansion aims to accelerate the development and implementation of AI-based solutions across the bank's global operations, enhancing both customer experiences and internal processes. With these new centers, BBVA is internationalizing its AI efforts to create innovative financial products and services on a global scale.

The AI Factory, which was originally established in Spain, is dedicated to researching the latest trends in AI and developing advanced analytical tools that power various technological solutions within the bank. These solutions include features such as personalized financial recommendations and tools for financial health management within the BBVA app. By opening centers in Mexico and Türkiye—two regions with significant customer bases and business operations—BBVA is positioning itself to better serve its global clientele through AI-driven innovations.

To support this expansion, BBVA has hired 230 new AI professionals, doubling the AI Factory's workforce to over 400 experts. These new hires, which include data scientists, machine learning engineers, developers, and digital product specialists, will work alongside the existing team in Spain. This growth underscores BBVA's commitment to leveraging AI as a core component of its digital strategy.

The AI Factory's work is highly collaborative, with projects often involving coordination between global and local teams to ensure solutions are tailored to specific markets. Current projects include developing a fully conversational virtual assistant to simplify digital interactions and creating AI-powered tools that enhance managers' efficiency and customer relationship models.

BBVA's AI Factory also emphasizes the reuse of code to streamline product development across all markets. By centralizing AI components in the Mercury library, the bank ensures that innovations can be quickly adapted and deployed globally, further solidifying BBVA's leadership in AI-driven financial services.
