Nationwide is set to launch a pilot program offering dementia clinics at branches across Wiltshire, with plans to expand the initiative nationwide. In partnership with Dementia UK, Nationwide will fund 30 Admiral Nurses who will bring expert care to 200 branches across the country. These nurses will not only work in the branches but also support Dementia UK's dedicated helpline, offering assistance to those affected by dementia, including their families and caregivers.

The free clinics, available to both Nationwide customers and the general public, will be held on set dates and can be booked in advance. The program began with clinics at Nationwide’s Swindon Croft, Devizes, and Trowbridge branches on July 29, with additional locations in Swindon Regent St, Marlborough, and Salisbury following from August 12.

Debbie Crosbie, Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide, emphasized the mutual’s commitment to societal good: “Nationwide wants to help people live their best life possible, for as long as possible. By working with Dementia UK to fund more Admiral Nurses and turning our branches into dementia clinics, we’re helping to tackle the country’s leading cause of death.”

Dr. Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse and CEO at Dementia UK, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “Nationwide’s backing, network, and expertise will help us deliver practical and emotional face-to-face support across the country, ensuring no one faces dementia alone.”

The clinics will offer a range of services, including assistance with understanding a dementia diagnosis, managing symptoms, caring for someone with dementia, and navigating financial and legal issues. This initiative is part of Nationwide’s broader social impact program, Nationwide Fairer Futures, which also addresses youth homelessness and family poverty through charity partnerships.
