Guardian has partnered with Pelago, a leading digital clinic for substance use management, to offer a comprehensive tobacco cessation program as part of its workplace-sponsored dental insurance.
Innovative tobacco cessation program
Starting in July, Guardian members with workplace-sponsored dental insurance will have access to Pelago’s personalized and confidential tobacco cessation program. This initiative includes a dedicated care coach, digital tools for personalized tracking, cognitive behavioral therapy content, and nicotine replacement therapy. Guardian is the first dental insurer to include such a program in its dental benefits package.
Addressing tobacco’s impact on health
Tobacco use significantly affects oral health, contributing to gum disease and other issues. The CDC reports that smokers have twice the risk of gum disease compared to non-smokers. Guardian’s Ounce of Prevention report also found that 78% of adults with poor oral health reported negative impacts on their mental health.
Support for all ages
Guardian’s partnership with Pelago extends to members of all ages, including dependent children aged 15 and older. This initiative complements Guardian’s Early Smiles™ program, which provides comprehensive dental care for children aged 12 and under.
