Absa Bank Kenya, a leading player listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and part of the Absa Group, has embarked on a groundbreaking collaboration to revolutionize its branch network, transforming them into intelligent customer experience centers. With a presence in 12 African markets and offices in London and New York, Absa Group is one of the continent's largest financial service institutions.

Domestically, Absa Bank Kenya spans 38 counties, boasting 83 branches, 212 ATMs, and a robust Internet and mobile banking platform. In response to the pandemic-induced shift to "mobile first," traditional banks encountered challenges. Recognizing the imperative for "digital enablement," Absa Bank Kenya joined forces with Huawei for a cutting-edge Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution, overcoming traditional networking limitations.

The SD-WAN solution, championed by Moses Okundi, Absa Bank Kenya's CIO, boasts high-performance forwarding, intelligent application routing, and full-process automation. Okundi underscores the significance of delivering a seamless digital experience to customers, driving the adoption of this next-generation technology.

This SD-WAN-based branch cloud network empowers Absa Bank Kenya to efficiently manage traffic across various providers, ensuring resilience in connectivity. Huawei's iMaster NCE-Campus O&M platform facilitates real-time monitoring and swift bandwidth adjustments, enhancing operational efficiency.

As Absa Bank Kenya lays the groundwork for its digital transformation, the intelligent cloud-based branch network becomes the cornerstone, reinforcing the bank's commitment to innovation in the ever-evolving financial landscape. Okundi metaphorically describes this technological foundation as a Lego statue's base, supporting cutting-edge solutions for customers.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Absa Bank Kenya and Huawei marks a strategic leap toward pioneering digital transformation in the banking sector. This partnership signifies the delivery of advanced financial services through an intelligent and resilient network foundation, shaping the future of banking experiences.
