Belfius Insurance and a.s.r., one of the largest Dutch insurance companies, have got together to create Fixxer, a new tech company with international ambitions.

Jaimy, the digital platform launched by Belfius Insurance at the beginning of 2078 to provide innovative domestic solutions, has grown in recent years in Belgium.

Jaimy was originally set up to put people wanting work done in their homes (plumbing, painting, electrical, etc.) in direct contact with building tradesmen able to do the job. Through Jaimy, Belfius Insurance set itself the goal of delivering double added value: helping homeowners to find quality professionals to carry out their projects, while at the same time supporting the local economy by giving motivated contractors easy and secure access to hundreds of potential jobs for which they could submit a price quote directly.

In addition to this 'marketplace activity', Jaimy has expanded its original platform since 2020 to include a second core business. Called 'repair in kind', the development of this business has been part of the strategy applied by Belfius Insurance to handle claims more quickly and make life easier for customers. Thanks to 'repairs in kind', customers no longer have to go looking for tradesmen themselves to get estimates for their repairs - and nor do that have to pay an excess. It's a system that is clearly much appreciated by policyholders and one that generates greater satisfaction, according to Eis Blaton, member of the Belfius Insurance Management Board and Chairman of Jaimy's Board of Directors.

It is precisely this side of the business that interests a.s.r, one of the largest insurance companies in the Netherlands. a.s.r. aims to use the technological platform provided by Jaimy to boost its business, particularly in the Netherlands.

Now, to develop Jaimy's 'repair in kind' business internationally, Belfius Insurance and a.s.r. are establishing Fixxer, a new company that will accommodate Jaimy's technological platform. a.s.r. is taking a 49.84% stake in Fixxer, with the remaining 50.76% being owned by Belfius Insurance.

Fixxer will be responsible for managing the technological platform and its international development. Jaimy will continue to manage commercial and operational activities in Belgium for both 'repairs in kind' and the 'marketplace activity'.

Frederic Van der Schueren, CEO Belfius Insurance: "I am particularly pleased that the a.s.r. group, one of the largest Dutch insurers, has taken a stake in Fixxer. I see this as great recognition for both Jaimy and Belfius Insurance. Through this partnership, Fixxer will be able to rely on two strong shareholders for the further expansion of its technological platform. Both of them share the same vision and have many values in common - including in terms of sustainability- to continue its growth and development."

Robert van der Schaaf, director P&C at a.s.r.: 'This partnership with Belfius Insurance through Fixxer is in line with a.s.r.'s strategy to invest in sustainable damage repair and efficient customer services. Jaimy's proven technology will allow us to optimize our services in the long run, and explore whether there are opportunities to further expand our services in the field of sustainable insurance.'
