Krungsri has launched the Krungsri Innovation x Chiang Mai, the first innovation hub in Chiang Mai to be established by Thailand’s financial institution, and it aims to be a knowledge center for Tech Community and a space for people to develop innovative digital financial solutions to drive Thailand’s digital economy goals. As well as being focused on the development of integrated technologies, Krungsri’s Innovation Hub will also create job opportunities and support local communities through cooperation with universities and local startups.

Mr Sayam Prasitsirigul, Krungsri Chief Information and Digital Officer, said “As one of the leaders in Thailand’s digital banking, Krungsri is committed to developing and enhancing the potential of digital finance for Thailand. As well as focusing on the development of products and financial technologies to meet customers’ demands, we are also focusing on talent development by providing a space for Tech Talent to showcase their creative ideas and exchange their thoughts with tech gurus. These will boost their potential to develop new financial innovations and drive Thailand to a new financial landscape.”

Krungsri Innovation x Chiang Mai is the first full-scale innovation hub outside Bangkok, established by Krungsri. The Bank has planned to expand its reach and offer FinTech career opportunities in provinces across the country. Chiang Mai is the pilot destination due to its potential and strengths such as location, access to Tech Talent, Startups, as well as educational institutions and local authorities. These factors reinforce its potential to further develop financial knowledge and innovation. This innovation hub will act as a tech community that meets the needs of Krungsri’s "Work from Anywhere" approach. The hub will also be a centre for Krungsri’s employees based in Chiang Mai and surrounding provinces in the northern region to work collaboratively and explore new opportunities to work with local Tech Talent and startups.

Miss Saisunee Hanprathueangsil, Krungsri Head of Digital Innovation and Data Group, said, “Financial industry developments are not limited to new digital technology that can be combined with our products or services. Krungsri is going beyond digital technologies and innovations solutions to  include the development of people who can then work collaboratively with us to deliver the best financial solutions to our customers. The Krungsri Nimble business unit covers FinTech solutions and talent development, and over the years Krungsri Nimble has helped foster many ideas from new tech talent that are then used by the Bank. As well as supporting local startups, we also plan to collaborate with educational institutions to help educate future tech talent.”

“For Krungsri, our long-term mission is to develop the country’s financial ecosystem and the sustainable growth of Thailand’s economy by strengthening the financial sector as a whole. Today is another key milestone as we expand our FinTech community to Chiang Mai. We hope that Krungsri Innovation x Chiang Mai will become a community where tech talent can join together and create innovative FinTech solutions,” concluded Mr Sayam.
